Welcome to Olchfa

As Headteacher at Olchfa, I am delighted to be able to introduce you to our school, via

this prospectus. We hope that it gives you a flavour of our school.

Olchfa is a large school, with over 1,900 students, nearly 500 of them in our Sixth Form

Centre.  We welcome pupils from a wide variety of backgrounds and abilities and strive

to make the school’s motto, ‘Developing Individual Potential’, a reality for all.

Our size enables us to offer a truly impressive range of learning activities, both

curricular and cross-curricular.  However, we also pride ourselves on our attention to

pupils as individuals, each with his/her own unique skills and talents and each with his/

her own capacity to succeed.

We are a successful and award-winning school, keen to innovate and explore but

recognising the importance of traditional values and aspirations, including the

importance of exam success. The key, we feel, is to combine the pursuit of academic

excellence with the development of the whole person. All of us are about so much more

than the subjects we study or the examinations we pass. Ultimately, it is the purpose of

the school, we feel, to take us beyond our comfort zones and to reach for the stars.
