Year 7 iCommunicate Term 2
What is on the curriculum? |
Good to know |
|
In iCommunicate English, pupils study a complete novel: 'Private Peaceful' by Michael Morpurgo. The novel follows the story of two brothers who end up enlisting in the British army at the start of World War I. Alongside the study of the novel's characters and style, pupils also learn about the history of the time through examining other texts, such as poems and propaganda posters. |
Studying a whole novel helps to foster a love of reading and of literature that we would hope is encouraged at home as well as in school.
In iCommunicate Cymraeg, through the topic of family and friends, pupils consider their links to other people as well as to other nationalities. They are also introduced to simple Welsh literary texts, all on the theme of pets, leading pupils to write creatively in the Welsh language. | Exposure to literature in a new language helps develop links between languages and encourages creativity in our learners.
In iCommunicate Spanish, pupils build on the previous term's work on the theme of identity by learning to talk and write about family as well as personal areas of interest. This enables them to expand their Spanish vocabulary and sentences structures. |
At the end of this term's unit in Spanish, pupils will have assessments in reading, listening and writing. |
