Experiencing a New Language - Mrs Powell |
|
After finding out that 13 languages were spoken fluently in my Year 8 form of 20 pupils I asked pupils if they would volunteer to deliver a language lesson to the class. Over a series of 5 Form periods this half-term Isa delivered an Urdu lesson, Anas delivered an Arabic lesson, Afnan delivered a Turkish lesson, Oguzhan delivered a Cantonese lesson and Abi delivered an Afrikaans lesson. The pupils delivered their language lessons confidently and professionally, engaging everyone in the class. The lessons helped to celebrate the language skills and diversity present in the form. |

Library Story Competition December 2020 |
|
We had a magnificent response to our story competition with some very creative and imaginative stories from all three year groups. We had intended to announce the winners before the end of term but as pupils have now finished, we have decided to make the announcement in January when we return to school. Something for all the budding authors in years 7, 8 and 9 to look forward to! |

Message from the Pupil Welfare Officer - Mrs Hopkins |
|
In these very different times we are all changing the way in which we do things. I am having to change the way I operate within the school. Before, pupils could come to see me if unwell etc but now I go to them as they are in different zones. Here are a few of the changes. - If a pupil feels unwell they are asked to speak to their class teacher who will then contact me by e mail or phone. I will then get to the pupil asap.
- If a pupil has suffered an injury in school or outside school I must be contacted before they come back in to school so we can complete a Risk Assessment.
- If a pupil has medication to hand in to me/to take whilst in school they must explain to their form tutor first thing in the morning. The form tutor will let me know and I will then go and collect the medication from the pupil making necessary arrangements. I will also give the pupil a form to be completed at home regarding the medication .This form needs to be returned to school asap..
- As you can appreciate I have to answer any calls/emails I get in order of priority.
I hope this clarifies a few things for you all. |
